SpendSense is built to be private by default. This page explains, plainly, what data exists and where it goes.
Nothing. SpendSense has no analytics, no advertising SDKs, no third-party tracking, and no servers of our own. We — the developer — never receive, see, or have access to your transactions, budgets, categories, or any other data you enter into the app.
Everything you enter — transactions, budgets, categories, recurring bills — is stored locally on your device and, if you have iCloud enabled, synced through your own private iCloud account (via Apple's CloudKit). This sync is entirely between your own devices, using your own Apple ID. It never passes through any server we control, because we don't operate one.
When you scan a receipt, text recognition happens entirely on your device using Apple's built-in Vision framework. Receipt photos are never uploaded anywhere.
Reminders (recurring bills, budget alerts) are scheduled locally on your device using Apple's notification system. No notification content is sent to or generated by any external server.
SpendSense does not require creating an account, an email address, or any sign-up. The app uses your device's existing iCloud account only for sync, if you choose to enable it.
SpendSense does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children, because it does not collect information from anyone at all.
If this policy ever changes, this page will be updated with a new "Last updated" date.
